The “Health Caravan” campaign was based on the successful health caravan model referred to as “Përshëndetje”, which was already implemented in phase 1 of the Swiss project “Health for All” targeting school children and their parents. The aim of health caravan was to deliver healthy lifestyle messages in an attractive manner. Participation of children and their parents/caregivers in these health promotion activities contributes to improve in a natural context the interaction between them regarding healthy lifestyle practices.
“Health Caravan” visited 26 different communities from the communities of the 30 schools selected for in-depth interventions. All activities were organized in outdoor spaces as the school yards or in main city centre squares. Beside the information received in the health campaign, the activities promoted interactivity between staff and communities. Children were engaged in: organization of food fairs; conveying important messages for healthy nutrition; carrying out activities related to a clean environment.

During the implementation of the activities, the community was asked to respect physical distance and take protective measures. The implementing staff was periodically tested for COVID-19. Overall, the campaign reached 7447 people (4078 male and 3369 female). Out of them 7258 were children and 141 teachers and 48 parents. Moreover, the campaign reached vulnerable communities as below mentioned:

Children with special needs: 75 (31 boys and 34 girls)
Roma and Egyptian children: 238 (116 boys and 122 girls)
Poor children coming from families belonging to economic aid scheme: 311 (171 boys and 140 girls)
